Abstract: Construction of East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) has a large impact in being able to link the states on the East Coast in a time shorter than existing roads. This gives a more comfortable alternative ride to the local community and beyond. However, there are still complaints from users regarding the facilities and services provided in LPT2. Thus, a study carried out to determine the level of satisfaction of polytechnic communities against the use of LPT2. A total of 222 respondent from four polytechnic involved in this study. Analysis of the findings made by using descriptive statistic and T-test through the software Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. Results of this analysis showed a mean value for items 'security level' in LPT2 is 2.29, i.e. at low mean score. While the 'facilities provided' is 2.50, where the stage score mean intermediate. Analysis of T-test also found, there is no significant relationship between the levels of satisfaction of users of different gender. Pearson correlation analysis found that the relationship between the usage frequency of LPT2 and the user satisfaction level was weak, but significant. It is hoped that the findings could help provides an overview of the level of satisfaction of the security aspects of polytechnic communities and facilities in LPT2.  This can help the parties responsible for providing the best service to oversee and improve LPT2 in all aspects in order to provide optimum satisfaction to the user.

      Pages: 149 - 159
Abstract: Currently, Malaysia is faced with challenges in efforts to provide a quality educational system. One of the surge in the Development Plan of Education (higher education) 2015-2025 is to ensure learning online at global level. So with this, the use of platform MOOC is one the first method was introduced as one of the approaches in learning and teaching. However the question arises whether polytechnic lecturer was ready to use online learning extensively, particularly in the process of learning and teaching. This study is intended to review the availability of committed lecturers Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of the use of platform MOOC in learning and teaching. Respondents were 153 lecturers in PSMZA and it has been selected at random. The instruments used are a set of survey questions. The findings indicate the availability of lecturers PSMZA will against the use of platform MOOC in learning and teaching are not influenced by gender. The mean score for female lecturers was 2.83 compared mean score men namely 2.57 and this shows women more ready against the use of platform MOOC. The mean score for aspects of female lecturers obstacles higher than male lecturers. This suggests that female lecturers more willing to use MOOC in learning and teaching although there are some aspects which have become obstacles. Someone who had the expectation of high availability using MOOC are less face obstacles while using MOOC in learning and teaching sessions. Coefficient of correlation variables obstacles in the use of MOOC and graduate readiness against MOOC is very weak with the value of the coefficient of correlation of -0.078. It is mean that female lecturers more willing to use MOOC in learning and teaching although there are some aspects which have become obstacles. Therefore clearly showed the use of MOOC among the lecturers PSMZA will provide positive indicators and should be polished to ensure the integration of technology in education achieved towards helping towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

    • Authors: Husnira Binti Hussin, Marina Binti Majid, Rohayu Binti Ab Wahab
      Pages: 160 - 169
Abstract: Engineering Mathematics 2 is one of the core courses for all diploma-level engineering students in Malaysian Polytechnic. From the statistics obtained, students achievement in the Engineering Mathematics 2 course (DBM2013) is still moderate and less satisfactory. This is because the subject of Engineering Mathematics 2 is mostly related to calculus and only students who have taken Additional Mathematics subject during secondary school had a basic in the Engineering Mathematics 2. Thus, this research was developed to see the relationship and influence of Mathematics subject during secondary school level, especially Additional Mathematics with the subject of Engineering Mathematics 2 in Polytechnic. High school achievement was measured using the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination results in Additional and Modern Mathematic subjects. Meanwhile, the results in the polytechnic level were measured from the final result of the Engineering Mathematics 2 course. The research used secondary data obtained from the examination unit from 2442 students of Semester 2 of Diploma in Civil Engineering (JKA), Diploma in Electrical Engineering (JKE) and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering JKM) at Polytechnic Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (PSMZA). Data obtained were processed and analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2010 and Statistical Packages For Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0 through Easy Linear Regression Analysis. The findings from the regression analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the achievement of Mathematics during secondary schools with the achievement of Engineering Mathematics 2 in polytechnics and it also proved that Additional Mathematics is one of the medium for student’s excellence in Engineering Mathematics 2 at polytechnics.
