      Abstract: Pengintegrasian Sains Kesihatan dalam Pendidikan Islam ialah pendekatan pengajaran dan pembelajaran dengan menyatukan ilmu sains kesihatan ke dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Islam. Kajian ini bertujuan meneroka pendapat pelajar dan guru Pendidikan Islam sekolah menengah serta pegawai Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) tentang keperluan pengintegrasian Sains Kesihatan dalam Pendidikan Islam KSSM (Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah) Tingkatan 1. Kajian kes Eksploratori ini menggunakan kaedah Persampelan Bertujuan yang melibatkan 5 orang pelajar tingkatan 2, 3 orang guru, serta seorang pegawai Bahagian Pendidikan Islam, KPM sebagai respondan kajian melalui kaedah temu bual semi-struktur. Kajian mendapati bahawa semua informan menerima cadangan pengintegrasian Sains Kesihatan dalam Pendidikan Islam dengan berpendapat bahawa pengintegrasian Sains Kesihatan sebagai inovasi dalam Pendidikan Islam, bersifat kesepaduan ilmu, mampu menarik minat berlajar, menggalakkan berfikir aras tinggi, menghubungkaitkan ilmu Islam dengan urusan kehidupan harian, bersesuaian dengan psikologi pelajar serta sesuai dengan saranan KPM. Oleh itu, pendekatan ini diperlukan dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran Pendidikan Islam kerana merentas kurikulum selari dengan saranan KPM yang menyepadukan ilmu Islam dengan kehidupan harian. Implikasi kajian ini ialah guru Pendidikan Islam dapat mempelbagaikan kaedah pengajaran, menggalakkan pelajar menggunakan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi, bersesuaian dengan umur pelajar tingkatan 1 sebagai awal remaja, dapat meningkatkan tahap minat belajar dengan mengamalkan perkara yang dipelajari dengan betul. Kata Kunci: Pendidikan Islam; Pendekatan; Pengintegrasian; Sains Kesihatan Integrating Health Sciences in Islamic Education is a teaching and learning approach by combining health science into Islamic Education subject. The aim of this study is to explore the opinions of secondary school students and Islamic Education teachers as well as officers from the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) on the needs to Integrate Health Sciences in Form One KSSM (Secondary School Standard Curriculum) Islamic Education. This Exploratory case study employed Purposive Sampling method involving 5 Form 2 students, 3 Islamic Education teachers, and an officer of the Islamic Education Division, MOE as respondents through semi-structural interview. The study found that all informants support the proposal to integrate Health Sciences in Islamic Education with the opinions that the integration of Health Sciences is an innovation in Islamic Education, can attract learning, encouraging high-order thinking, correlate Islamic knowledge to daily life, appropriate with students’ psychology as well as in line with the recommendation of the MOE. Therefore, this approach is needed in the teaching and learning of Islamic Education as it crosses the curriculum, which is in line with the recommendation of the MOE, which integrates Islamic knowledge with daily life. The implications of the study are Islamic Education teachers can vary their teaching methods, encourage students to use high-order thinking skills, appropriate to the age of Form 1 students as early teenagers, and could increase students’ learning interest by practicing what is being learned correctly.       Abstract: Sensitiviti moral merupakan unsur yang menjadi tunjang kepada sesuatu perlakuan moral. Sensitiviti moral melibatkan proses mentafsir perasaan orang lain, kemahiran empati dan patuh kepada prinsip moral. Justeru artikel ini membincangkan hasil kajian tentang potensi aktiviti menonton dan analisis filem pendek sebagai kaedah pengajaran dalam mencungkil unsur sensitiviti moral dalam kalangan murid-murid sekolah menengah. Seramai 18 orang murid perempuan dan lelaki (tiga kumpulan berfokus) dari kelas Pendidikan Moral tingkatan empat digunakan untuk tujuan pengumpulan data. Teknik pensampelan bertujuan digunakan untuk memilih peserta kajian. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan reka bentuk kajian tindakan yang menggunakan kaedah temu bual, pemerhatian dan penulisan jurnal murid. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan aktiviti menonton dan analisis filem pendek dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran Pendidikan Moral mampu mencungkil sensitiviti moral dalam kalangan murid tingkatan empat. Mempunyai sensitiviti moral adalah satu nilai murni yang amat penting kepada seseorang murid dalam memupuk kesedaran tentang sesuatu isu moral dan keupayaan untuk mengambil pertimbangan wajar sebelum menyelesaikan sesuatu konflik. Key Words: Sensitiviti moral, menonton dan analisis filem, pengajaran dan pembelajaran, Pendidikan Moral  Moral sensitivity is an important element that is the cornerstone of a moral act. Moral sensitivity involves the process of interpreting the feelings of others, understanding the impact of an issue and how it affects certain parties, empathy skills and role play in realizing a moral issue exists in a situation, and adhering to moral principles, rules or guidelines. Hence this article discusses the findings of the study on the potential of watching and analysing short films as a method of teaching in identifying the element of moral sensitivity among secondary school children. A total of 18 male and female Form Four students (three focus groups) were used for data collection purposes. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the study participants. This study uses a qualitative approach with action research design using interviews, observations and journal writing for the purpose of collecting data. Data analysis shows that watching and film analysis activities in the teaching and learning of Moral Education were able to unleash moral sensitivity and awareness among the participants. Having moral sensitivity is a very important moral value to a student in having awareness in a particular moral issue and having the ability to take rasional judgment before resolving any conflict.Key Words: Moral sensitivity, watching and film analysis, teaching and learning, Moral Education

      Abstract: Pengurusan bilik darjah merupakan salah satu elemen utama Program Pembangunan Guru Baharu (PPGB) yang bertujuan membantu guru baharu menyediakan dan mengekalkan bilik darjah sebagai persekitaran yang berkesan untuk pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Namun, persediaan dalam mengurus bilik darjah yang tidak mencukupi serta kesukaran yang dihadapi dalam mengawal tingkah laku pelajar pada tahun pertama perkhidmatan memberi kesan terhadap amalan pengajaran guru baharu dan seterusnya pembelajaran pelajar. Justeru, kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti tahap pengurusan bilik darjah guru baharu yang mengikuti PPGB serta perbezaannya berdasarkan tahap sekolah. Reka bentuk kajian tinjauan telah dipilih dan soal selidik digunakan sebagai instrumen kajian. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif untuk menentukan tahap pengurusan bilik darjah dari aspek persekitaran pembelajaran kondusif, hubungan dan kerjasama dengan pelajar, serta disiplin bilik darjah. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap pengurusan bilik darjah guru baharu dalam ketiga-tiga aspek tersebut adalah sangat tinggi. Selain itu, kajian mendapati tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan tahap pengurusan bilik darjah guru baharu yang mengikuti PPGB berdasarkan tahap sekolah. Amalan pengurusan bilik darjah yang berkesan mampu meningkatkan disiplin pelajar dan menggalakkan penambahbaikan terhadap pelaksanaan pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Oleh itu, persediaan yang mencukupi di peringkat pra-perkhidmatan adalah penting bagi menyediakan pengetahuan dan peluang untuk guru baharu mengembangkan kemahiran mereka dalam pengurusan bilik darjah.Key Words: Pengurusan bilik darjah; Program Pembangunan Guru Baharu; Guru baharu; Guru mentor; Pentadbir sekolah Classroom management is one of the key elements of the New Teacher Development Program (PPGB) aimed at helping new teachers prepare and maintain classrooms as an effective environment for teaching and learning. However, the provision of inadequate classroom management and the difficulty faced in controlling student behaviour during the first year of service affects the practice of new teacher in teaching and subsequently student learning. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the level of new teacher classroom management in PPGB and the difference based on school level. The survey design was selected, and the questionnaire was used as a research instrument. The data are quantitatively analyzed to determine the level of classroom management interms of conducive learning environment, relationships and collaboration with students, as well as classroom discipline. The results show that the level of new teacher classroom management in these three aspects is very high. In addition, the study found that there was no significant difference in the level of classroom management of new teachers following PPGB based on school level. Effective classroom management practices can enhance student discipline and promote improvements in teaching and learning. Therefore, adequate preparation at the pre-service level is important to provide knowledge and opportunities for new teachers to develop their skills in classroom management.Key Words: Classroom management; New Teacher Development Program; New teachers; Mentor teacher; School administrators

      Abstract: Kemahiran pemikiran sejarah dapat menjana pemikiran kritis melalui penilaian bukti sejarah dengan menghubungkaitkan satu peristiwa sejarah lampau dengan masa kini yang membolehkan murid mengaplikasikan pengajaran yang diperolehi dalam konteks kehidupan mereka. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan hubungan antara amalan dan penguasaan kemahiran pemikiran sejarah dan konstruknya, iaitu: i) kemahiran memahami kronologi, ii) kemahiran meneroka bukti, iii) kemahiran membuat interpretasi, iv) kemahiran membuat imaginasi, dan v) kemahiran membuat rasionalisasi dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran sejarah. Kajian ini berbentuk tinjauan korelasi yang melibatkan 865 murid Tingkatan Dua daripada 30 sekolah menengah di sebuah negeri utara Semenanjung Malaysia yang dipilih melalui persampelan rawak mudah. Instrumen kajian ini merupakan soal selidik dan ujian penguasaan kemahiran pemikiran sejarah. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara amalan dan penguasaan kemahiran pemikiran sejarah. Dari segi konstruknya, terdapat hubungan signifikan yang tinggi amalan dan penguasaan kemahiran membuat interpretasi. Manakala, terdapat hubungan signifikan sederhana tinggi amalan dan penguasaan kemahiran memahami kronologi, kemahiran meneroka bukti, kemahiran membuat imaginasi dan kemahiran membuat rasionalisasi. Kajian ini mencadangkan bahawa amalan dan penguasaan kemahiran pemikiran sejarah dan konstruknya perlu dipertingkatkan dengan lebih menyeluruh dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran sejarah.Kata Kunci: amalan dan penguasaan, kemahiran pemikiran sejarah, korelasi
      Historical thinking skills can generate critical thinking through the assessment of historical evidences by relating past and curent historical events that enable students to apply what they learnt in their living context. This study aims to determine the relationship between historical thinking skills practice and acquisition, which consist of five constructs, which are: i) chronology understanding skills, ii) exploration of evidences skills, iii) interpretation skills, iv) imagination skills, and v) rationalizing skills in the teaching and learning process. This study is a correlational survey involving 865 Form Two students from 30 secondary schools in a state of north Peninsular Malaysia using simple random sampling. A historical thinking skills questionaire and an achievement test are used as the research instrument. Findings indicate that there is a significant relationship between practice and acquisition of historical thinking skills. In terms of the constructs, there is a higher significant relationship between practice and acquisition of interpretation skills. Whereas there are medium high significant relationships between practice and acquisition of chronology understanding skills, exploration of evidences skills, imagination skills and rationalizing skills. This study suggested that practice and acquisition of historical thinking skills have to be implemented comprehensively in the process of teaching and learning history.Key Words: Historical thinking skills, practice and acquisition, correlation study

      Abstract: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti sejauh mana pengetahuan, kesediaan dan sikap guru-guru Bahasa Melayu sekolah rendah dalam melaksanakan peta pemikiran i-think dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran Bahasa Melayu di sekolah rendah. Kajian tinjauan ini menggunakan soal selidik sebagai instrumen kajian. Responden kajian terdiri daripada 108 orang guru Bahasa Melayu di 44 buah sekolah rendah di daerah Kapit, Sarawak. Data kajian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan program The Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences versi 23.0. Kaedah analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk menunjukkan kekerapan, peratusan,  min dan sisihan piawai. Hasil kajian mendapati tahap pengetahuan, tahap kesediaan dan tahap sikap guru Bahasa Melayu sekolah rendah terhadap pelaksanaan peta pemikiran i-think dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran berada pada tahap yang tinggi. Guru bahasa Melayu sekolah rendah yang mengajar di pedalaman ini mempunyai pengetahuan yang baik tentang peta pemikiran i-think, bersedia untuk menggunakan peta pemikiran i-think dan mempunyai sikap yang positif dalam menggunakan peta pemikiran i-think sebagai alat bantu mengajar mereka.  Implikasi kajian ialah guru Bahasa Melayu sekolah rendah pedalaman ini mengetahui kepentingan penggunaan peta pemikiran i-think dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran Bahasa Melayu.Kata kunci: Peta pemikiran, pengetahuan, kesediaan, sikap, guru bahasa Melayu, sekolah rendah The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of knowledge, attitude dan level of readiness of Malay Language primary school teachers in implementing i-think map. This study was carried out using survey design using questionnaire as a research instrument. The respondents of the study consisted of 108 school teachers in 44 primary schools in Kapit district, Sarawak. The data were analysed using The Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS Window version 23.0) to analyse all the data that has been collected. Descriptive and inference methods are used and all the findings analyzed will be presented in the form of tables showing mean score and standard deviation. The findings show that the level of teacher knowledge on i-think implementation is at a high level. The primary school language teachers in this interior have good knowledge of i-think thinking maps, ready to use i-think thinking maps and have a positive attitude in using i-think thinking maps as their teaching aids. The implication of this study is that the Malay Language teachers will enhance their knowledge, readiness and attitude about the use of i-think in the teaching of Malay Language as well as enhance the level of skills and the use of i-think among Malay Language teachers.Keywords: i-think map, knowledge, readiness, attitude, Malay Language teachers, primary schools

      Abstract: Kemahiran membaca merupakan asas kepada pembentukan diri ke arah memperoleh ilmu. Kemahiran ini penting diperoleh sejak di peringkat pendidikan awal kanak-kanak lagi. Justeru, kajian ini adalah untuk membangunkan Modul Riang Ria Membaca (MRRM) iaitu modul pengajaran membaca awal bagi kanak-kanak prasekolah di pedalaman Sabah menggunakan nyanyian. Pembangunan MRRM dilandasi oleh tiga teori iaitu Teori Psikolinguistik kognitif, Teori Perkembangan kognitif Lev Vygotsky dan Teori Perkembangan Kognitif Jean Piaget. Metodologi kajian yang digunakan ialah kuantitatif deskriptif untuk mengenal pasti masalah, keperluan serta ciri-ciri modul yang dibangunkan. Maklumat dikumpulkan melalui pembacaan kepustakaan termasuklah membuat rujukan dari buku, tesis, artikel jurnal, laporan dan polisi untuk menentukan kandungan modul. Urutan isi kandungan modul pula diolah berasaskan analisis Teori Perkembangan Kognitif Jean Piaget pada peringkat praoperasi serta berpandukan pada Kurikulum Standard Prasekolah Kebangsaan (KPM 2017). Pembangunan MRRM menggunakan Model ADDIE. Hasil kajian ialah prototaip 1 MRRM yang terdiri daripada 20 aktiviti, dibangunkan berdasarkan empat sub-modul. Pemilihan lagu bagi 20 aktiviti adalah menggunakan pendekatan Kodaly, yakni penggunaan melodi lagu rakyat. Pembangunan MRRM memberi sumbangan alternatif kaedah dan sumber pengajaran membaca yang menyeronokkan sesuai dengan dasar kerajaan yang menitikberatkan konsep hibur didik. Akhirnya, cadangan kajian lanjutan ialah menganalisis kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan prototaip1 MRRM.Kata kunci: Modul membaca prasekolah, nyanyian, Teori Psikolinguistik, Model ADDIE dan Morisson II, belajar melalui bermain Reading skills are the basis of self-development towards acquiring knowledge. This skill is important since early childhood education. Hence, this study aimed to develop the Modul Riang Ria Membaca (MRRM) which is an early reading module for preschool children in the interior of Sabah using songs. The development of MRRM is based on three theories, namely Cognitive Psycholinguistic Theory, Lev Vygotsky's Cognitive Development Theory and Jean Piaget's Cognitive Development Theory. The methodology of the study was descriptive quantitative to identify the problems, requirements and charateristics of the modules developed. Information gathered through review of literature includes making references from books, theses, journal articles, reports and policies to determine the contents of the module. The sequence of module content is processed based on an analysis of Jean Piaget's Cognitive Developmental Theory at the preoperative level and is guided by the National Preschool Standard Curriculum (KPM, 2017). The MRRM development used the ADDIE Model. The product of this study was the prototype 1 MRRM consisting of 20 activities, developed based on four submodules. The selection of songs for 20 activities uses the Kodaly approach, which is the use of melodic folk songs. MRRM's development contributes an exciting alternative to teaching and learning resources based on government policies that emphasize the concept of fun-learning.       Abstract: The implementation of the 21st century learning among students was introduced through the Malaysian Education Development Plan (MEDP) 2013–2025. Research suggest that students’ involvement in 21st century learning activities in the classroom is related to the development of higher order thinking skills. This study was conducted to identify the level and relationship of students’ involvement in the implementation of 21st century learning in the classroom and the students' higher order thinking skills. This study is a cross-sectional survey that uses questionnaires to collect data. The sample was chosen randomly, involving a total of 200 Form Four students in Negeri Sembilan. Descriptive and inferential (Pearson Correlation) statistics were used to analyze the data. The findings show that students’ involvement in 21st century classroom learning activities and their higher order thinking skills are at a moderate level. It was also found that there is a significant relationship between students’ involvement in 21st century learning activities in the classroom with their levels of higher order thinking skills. The findings imply that students need to have a high level of readiness to ensure a successful implementation of 21st century learning in the classroom, which would contribute to their development of higher order thinking skills.Keywords: 21st century learning, students’ classroom involvement, higher order thinking skill Pelaksanaan pembelajaran abad ke 21 dalam kalangan pelajar diperkenalkan menerusi Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia (PPPM) 2013–2025. Kajian-kajian lepas menunjukkan keterlibatan pelajar dalam aktiviti pembelajaran abad ke-21 dalam bilik darjah berkait dengan perkembangan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi. Kajian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengenal pasti tahap dan hubungan keterlibatan pelajar dalam aktiviti pembelajaran abad ke-21 dalam bilik darjah dengan tahap kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi. Kajian ini berbentuk tinjauan menggunakan soal selidik. Sampel kajian dipilih secara rawak mudah yang melibatkan seramai 200 orang pelajar tingkatan 4 di Negeri Sembilan. Kajian ini menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensi (korelasi Pearson) untuk menganalisis data. Hasil kajian menunjukkan keterlibatan pelajar dalam aktiviti pembelajaran abad ke-21 dalam bilik darjah dan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi masing-masing berada pada tahap sederhana tinggi. Kajian juga mendapati terdapatnya hubungan signifikan antara keterlibatan pelajar dalam aktiviti pembelajaran abad ke-21 dalam bilik darjah dan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi mereka. Implikasi kajian menunjukkan bahawa pelajar perlu mempunyai tahap kesediaan yang tinggi bagi memastikan kejayaan pelaksanaan pembelajaran abad ke-21 dalam bilik darjah, ang seterusnya akan menyumbang kepada perkembangan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi.Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran abad ke-21, keterlibatan murid dalam kelas, kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi

  • TVET Educational Choice of Malaysian Polytechnic Students (Pilihan
           Pendidikan TVET Pelajar Politeknik di Malaysia)

      Abstract: Students face the burden of collecting and analysing information, clarifying their own preferences, and categorizing their prioritization before making their educational choice as it is a complex and multistage process in which an individual develops aspirations to continue formal tertiary education. This paper discussed the TVET educational choice among Malaysian Polytechnics students. This study employed the QUAN-QUAL explanatory sequential design under the mixed methods model. 40 participants were purposively-selected based on their decision-making behaviour through a questionnaire (QUAN). The selected participants were divided into 10 focus groups and they were interviewed to get insights on how their educational choice was made based on their characteristics, academic credentials and decision-making behaviour (QUAL). Their responds were analysed using thematic method. Findings revealed that the main factors in the Malaysian polytechnics students’ educational choice are: i) students’ characteristics – Academic performance in secondary school, elective subjects taken in secondary school, and field of interest ii) institutional characteristics – Courses offered by the institution, employment opportunities, financial matters, location of institution, and learning environment, iii) decision-making behaviour – Making comparison and satisficing, and iv) other related factors – Influence of others and lack of information. Understanding the students’ factors of educational choice would assist institutions in their recruitment and enrolment of students, as well as develop and implement an effective institution development plan, particularly in student recruitment management.Keywords: Educational choice, Malaysian Polytechnics, decision-making behaviour, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Pelajar menghadapi beban mengumpul dan menganalisis maklumat, menjelaskan pilihan mereka sendiri, dan mengkategorikan keutamaan mereka sebelum membuat pilihan pendidikan mereka kerana ia adalah proses yang kompleks dan pelbagai di mana seorang individu mengembangkan aspirasi untuk meneruskan pendidikan formal di peringkat pengajian tinggi. Artikel ini membincangkan pilihan pendidikan TVET dalam kalangan pelajar Politeknik Malaysia. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk eksplanatori berurutan QUAN-QUAL di bawah model kaedah campuran. 40 orang peserta dipilih secara bertujuan berdasarkan tingkah laku mereka melalui soal selidik (QUAN). Peserta yang dipilih dibahagikan kepada 10 kumpulan fokus dan mereka ditemuramah untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang bagaimana pilihan pendidikan mereka dibuat berdasarkan ciri-ciri peribadi mereka, kelayakan akademik dan kelakuan membuat keputusan (QUAL). Respon mereka dianalisis menggunakan kaedah tematik. Penemuan mendedahkan bahawa faktor utama dalam pilihan pendidikan pelajar Politeknik Malaysia adalah: i) ciri pelajar - prestasi akademik di sekolah menengah, mata pelajaran elektif diambil di sekolah menengah, dan bidang diminati ii) ciri institusi - kursus yang ditawarkan oleh institusi, peluang pekerjaan, perihal kewangan, lokasi institusi dan persekitaran pembelajaran, iii) Tingkah laku membuat keputusan - Membuat perbandingan dan pemuasan, dan iv) faktor lain yang berkaitan - Pengaruh orang lain dan kekurangan maklumat. Memahami faktor pilihan pendidikan pelajar akan membantu institusi dalam pengambilan dan pendaftaran pelajar mereka, serta untuk membangunkan dan melaksanakan pelan pembangunan institusi yang berkesan, terutamanya dalam pengurusan pengambilan pelajar.Kata kunci: Pilihan pendidikan, Politeknik Malaysia, Tingkah laku dalam membuat keputusan, Pendidikan dan Latihan Teknikal dan Vokasional (TVET)
