  • THE EFFECTS OF DIALOGIC READING STRATEGY ON EFL YOUNG LEARNERS’
           READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS

      Abstract: Abstract: The Effects of Dialogic Reading Strategy on Efl Young Learners’ Reading Com- prehension Skills. This paper reports the study of the effectiveness of the dialogic reading instruc- tion which was implemented in a primary school with low social economic background. The study employed quasi experiment research design. Forty students of the fourth grade participated in the study. They were assigned into two groups: control and experimental groups. The control group received traditional reading instruction, while the experimental group was treated with 8 meetings of dialogic reading instruction. A reading comprehension test was used to measure the effective- ness of the treatment. The results seem to favor the dialogic reading instruction. Keywords: dialogic reading, reading comprehension, young learnersAbstrak: Pengaruh Strategi Membaca Dialogis terhadap Kemampuan Membaca Pelajar Pemula Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing. Di Indonesia, karena kurangnya budaya mem- baca dan rendahnya kemampuan guru dalam mengajar membaca teks bahasa Inggris kepada siswa SD telah mengakibatkan rendahnya kemampuan siswa SD membaca bahasa Inggris. Artikel ini melaporkan hasil penelitian tentang efektifitas pembelajaran membaca teks bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan strategi membaca dialogis pada siswa SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan quasi experiment. Sebanyak 2 kelas masing-masing terdiri dari 20 siswa SD kelas IV berpartisipasi pada penelitian ini. Satu kelas dijadikan kelompok percobaan dan satu kelas lainnya dijadikan ke- lompok kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen diberi pembelajaran dengan menggunakan strategi mem- baca dialogis sebanyak 8 kali pertemuan, sedangkan kelompok kontrol diberi pembelajaran mem- baca secara tradisional. Pada akhir eksperimen, semua siswa diberi tes pemahaman untuk meng- ukur efektifitas pembelajaran membaca. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan yang menunjukkan keunggulan kelompok siswa yang diberi pembelajaran membaca dialogis. Kata kunci: membaca dialogis, pemahaman membaca, Bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak

           Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Siswa Pada Materi Bentuk Dan Kepolaran

      Abstract: Abstract: The Effectiveness of Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) Learning Model in Improving the Students’ Conceptual Comprehension of Molecular Shapes and Polarity. Addressing the students’ difficulty in understanding the topic of molecular shapes and polarity, this study aims to examine the level of students’ understanding of molecular shapes and polarity as well as to look at the effectiveness of Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model in improving students' conceptual un- derstanding. The level of the conceptual understanding was measured using a validated CRI (Cer- tainty Response) test. This quasi-experimental study was carried out in two classes of the 8th grade of SMAN 3 Ambon. The results show that the teaching-learning process using ADI model was more effective in improving the students' concept understanding (from 5.2 to 71.2%), compared to conventional model (from 13.2 to 65.5%).Key words: argument driven inquiry (ADI), concept understanding, molecular shape and polarityAbstrak: Efektifitas Model Pembelajaran Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) dalam Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Siswa pada Materi Bentuk dan Kepolaran Molekul. Topik kimia tentang bentuk dan kepolaran molekul nampaknya masih dirasa sulit bagi siswa SMA, karena banyak yang masih mengalami kesalahan dan ketidak fahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman siswa tentang bentuk dan kepolaran molekul serta menguji efektivitas pembelajaran remidi model Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Tingkat pemahaman konsep  diukur  dengan tes  CRI  (Certainty Respons Index)  termodifikasi yang  telah divalidasi, kemudian dilakukan pembelajaran remidi dengan desain eksperimen semu menggunakan dua kelas X SMAN 3 Ambon, sebagai subjek penelitian. Salah satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen, diberi pembelajaran remidi molel ADI dan kelas yang lainnya diberi pembelajaran remidi model konvensional (ceramah). Resistensi perbaikan konsep juga dilihat dengan tes tunda, satu bulan setelah pembelajaran remidi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 94,5% siswa di kelas eksperimen dan 86,8% di kelas kontrol yang tidak paham konsep dan salah konsep. Pembelajaran remidi model ADI lebih efektif dalam  meningkatkan jumlah siswa  yang  paham konsep (dari 5,2  menjadi 71,2%), dibandingkan model konvensional (dari 13,2 menjadi 65,5%). Hasil perbaikan konsep dengan model ADI tersebut juga mempunyai resistensi yang tinggi (95,5%), lebih tinggi dibanding retensi hasil pembelajaran konvensional (82,4%).Kata kunci: argument driven inquiry (ADI), pemahaman konsep, bentuk dan kepolaran molekul.

  • Validitas Dan Reliabilitas Konstruk Skor Tes Kemampuan Calon Mahasiswa

      Abstract: Abstract: On the Construct Validity and Reliability of the Candidate Students’ Proficiency Scores. This study aims to prove the construct validity and estimate the construct reliability of the scores gathered from 893 prospective students (applicants) to the same entrance test administered in2013, 2014, and 2015. The construct validity was evident as shown by confirmatory factor analysis and cross-validation. This was followed with the estimation of its construct reliability. The similarity of reli- abilities was based on analysis using H* test. The study shows that by utilizing cross-validation, con- firmatory factor analysis using data from 2013, 2014, and 2015 produced fit models. The invariance test of factor loading shows that the same value form year to year, but based on the cross-validation, it is on- ly scores from 2013 and 2015 which show the same results. The subtest reliabilities, estimated using construct reliability, w-coefficient, and W-coefficient, resulted in mediocre level, but the maximum reli- ability formula resulted in coefficient of high category.Keywords: construct validity, cross-validation, construct reliabilityAbstrak: Validitas dan Reliabilitas Konstruk Skor Tes Kemampuan Calon Mahasiswa. Studi ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan validitas konstruk tes pengukur kemampuan awal mahasiswa dan mengestimasi reliabilitas skornya antar waktu. Penelitian ini menggunakan data dokumentasi selama 3 tahun (2013-2015) dari 893 calon mahasiswa yang merespons tes yang sama. Validitas konstruk dibuk- tikan dengan analisis faktor konfirmatori kemudian dilakukan kross validasi, kemudian diestimasi relia- bilitas konstruknya. Kesamaan reliabilitas dianalisis dengan uji H*. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan krosvalidasi, analisis faktor konfirmatori dengan menggunakan data tahun 2013,2014, dan 2015 menghasilkan model yang fit. Hasil uji invariansi muatan faktor menunjukkan bahwa muatan-muatan faktor bernilai sama antar tahun, namun berdasarkan hasil krosvalidasi model hasilnya sama pada tahun 2013 dan 2015. Reliabilitas subtes yang diestimasi dengan reliabilitas konstruk, relia- bilitas w, menghasilkan koefisien pada level sedang, namun pada reliabilitas maksimal menghasilkan koefisien pada kategori tinggi.Kata kunci: validitas konstruk, krosvalidasi, reliabilitas konstruk

This study is aimed at investigating the impact of institutional and student inputs on academic achievement (AA) and differences of AA by sex and field of study. This research carried out at Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University. By using purposive sampling method, 300 students, 100 students each at Accounting, Management, and Development Economic Departments is used. Technique of analysis implemented are Multiple Linear Regression, Independent Sample t-test, and Anova. The findings show that for Model 1, class size negatively influence AA. At Model 2a, learning allocation of time and father’s education positively impact AA. At Model 2b, ability of study and father’s education positively influence AA. Additionally, there are significantly differences of ability of study and AA by sex and AA by department.

  • Analisis Kebutuhan Model Pelatihan Untuk Meningkatkan Kompetensi Guru
           Sekolah Dasar Daerah Terpencil

      Abstract: Abstract: Analysis of Needs for Training Model for the Improvement of Elementary School Teachers’ Competences in Remote Areas. The objective of this study is to analyse the needs of pri- mary school teachers in remote areas for the improvement of their competences. The data were collect- ed from 86 elementary school teachers using questionnaire, interviews, and FGD. The data were then analyzed using TNA-T. The results show that there are significant gaps in all indicators of pedagogical, social, and professional competences except those of personality competence; of the 5 indicators, there are 3 indicators that show gaps. The indicator of 'using information and communication technology for learning’ as part of pedagogic competence is an indicator that has the greatest gap. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pelatihan bagi guru SD di daerah terpencil Kabupaten Gunung Mas Kalimantan Tengah. Subjek penelitian adalah 86 orang guru. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara penyebaran angket, wawancara dan Focus Group Disscussion (FGD), yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan TNA-T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesenjang- an nyata pada seluruh indikator kompetensi pedagogik, sosial, dan professional guru; sedangkan pada kompetensi kepribadian dari 5 buah indikator terdapat 3 indikator yang mengalami kesenjangan. Pada indikator ‘memanfaatkan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi untuk kepentingan pembelajaran’ dari kompetensi pedagogic, merupakan indikator yang memiliki kesenjangan terbesar, sehingga menempati prioritas utama kebutuhan pelatihan, dan sekaligus akan menjadi fokus pelatihan inovatif yang akan dikembangkan. In House Training (IHT) merupakan bentuk pelatihan yang direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru SD daerah terpencil.Kata kunci: kebutuhan model pelatihan, kompetensi guru SD, SD daerah terpencil

  • Model Pembelajaran Pembentukan Perilaku Moral Pada Anak Kelompok Bermain

      Abstract: Abstract: Teaching-learning Model to Build Morality of Children. The present R & D was aimed at developing a model which could build children’s morality. Carried out in a setting of a play group in Padang, the research also sought to describe the effectiveness of the learning model that was used to in- stil children’s morality through habitual activities. The data were collected using test and observation sheets. The data were analyzed by using t-test. The findings show that the implementation of the learn- ing model significantly improved the children’s morality, religious values, and their social and emo- tional development. In addition, based on the teachers’ perceptions, the implementation of the model has also improved the children’s creativity.Keyword: teaching-learning model, morality building, play group.Abstrak: Model Pembelajaran Pembentukan Perilaku Moral pada Anak Kelompok Bermain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran pembentukan perilaku moral anak melalui pembiasaan di kelompok bermain. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah peneli- tian  pengembangan dengan  melaksanakan uji  terbatas  di  lapangan  dengan  menggunakan disain eksperimen one group pretest-postest design, tanpa kelas kontrol. Sedangkan pengujian secara lebih luas dilaksanakan dengan desain eksperimen yang sama tetapi menggunakan kelas kontrol. Data dikumpul- kan menggunakan instrumen wawancara dan observasi. Selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan tek- nik statistik uji t. Temuan penelitian yang tergambar pada uji secara terbatas maupun uji secara lebih luas menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran yang dirancang efektif secara signifikan dalam pembentukan perilaku moral keseharaian anak melalui pembiasaan yang meliputi pengembangan moral, nilai-nilai agama, pengembangan sosial emosional dan kemandirian.Kata kunci: model pembelajaran, perilaku moral, kelompok bermain

      Abstract: Abstract: Project-based Learning in Instilling Entrepreneurial Character Traits, Science Process Skills, and High Order Thinking Skills. This research was aimed to look at the effectiveness of the application of project-based learning in instilling entrepreneurial character traits, science process skills, and high-order thinking skills in biology education students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Ed- ucation UM Surabaya. The research was done by using pre-experimental design of oneshot case study on biochemistry lecture of food and nutrition in the 2nd  semester of 2016/2017. The data collected through observations and test were analyzed descriptively. The results show: (1) entrepreneurial charac- ter traints reached the score of 3.12 (initial development), (2) science process skill 3.00 (good), and (3) high-order thinking skills 66.24 (more than sufficient). It can be concluded that the application of pro- ject-based learning is effective in instilling entrepreneurial character traits, science process skills, and high-order thinking skills of the students.Keywords: Project-based learning, entrepreneurial character traits, science process skills, high-order thinking skills.Abstrak: Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek dalam Menanamkan Karakter Kewirausahaan, Keterampilan Proses Sains dan Keterampilan Berpikir Tingkat Tinggi Mahasiswa. Penelitian in bertujuan untuk menge- tahui keefektifan penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek dalam menanamkan karakter ke- wirausahaan, keterampilan proses sains, dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada mahasiswa pro- gram studi pendidikan biologi FKIP UMSurabaya. Penelitian telah dilakukan menggunakan metode pra-eksperimen desain one-shot case study pada perkuliahan biokimia pangan dan gizi pada semester genap Tahun Akademik 2016/2017 Prodi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UMSurabaya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi dan tes. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menun- jukkan bahwa: (1)  tingkat karakter kewirausahaan mencapai nilai 3,12  termasuk kategori mulai berkembang , (2) keterampilan proses sain mencapai nilai 3,00 termasuk kategori baik, dan (3) kete- rampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi mencapai nilai 66,24 termasuk kategori lebih dari cukup. Jadi penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek cukup efektif dalam menanamkan karakter kewirausahaan, kete- rampilan proses sains, dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada mahasiswa.Kata kunci: Pembelajaran berbasis proyek, karakter kewirausahaan, keterampilan proses sains, ke- terampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi,

  • Pengaruh Gaya Pengasuhan Orang Tua, Konsep Diri, Dan Regulasi Diri
           Terhadap Motivasi Berprestasi Siswa

      Abstract: Abstract. Effect of Parenting Style, Self Concepts, and Self Regulation on Students’ Achievement Motivation. This study aimed to  determine the effect of parenting style, self-concept and self- regulation of achievement motivation from students of class VIII MTs Pembangunan UIN Jakarta. Sur- vey was applied as the research method with 236 students as the participants. The data were collected using questionnaire with scales of: (1) Achievement Motivation, (2) Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), (3) Self-Perception Profile for Adolescents (SPPA), and (4) Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ). Multiple regression and Confirmatocy Factor Analysis (CFA) were carried out in analyzing the data. The results showed that parents with authoritative parenting styles have greater opportunity to im- prove students’ achievement motivation compared to those parents with authoritarian or permissive parenting styles. The results further showed that the proportion of variance explained by the achieve- ment motivation throughout the independent variable (IV) amounted to 31.9%, and the remaining 68.1% is influenced by other variables outside of this research.Keywords: achievement motivation, parenting style, self-concept, self-regulation.Abstrak: Pengaruh Gaya Pengasuhan Orang Tua, Konsep Diri, dan Regulasi Diri terhadap Mo- tivasi Berprestasi Siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gaya pengasuhan orang tua, konsep diri, dan regulasi diri terhadap motivasi berprestasi siswa kelas VIII MTs Pembangunan UIN Jakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei, dengan sampel penelitian sebanyak 236 siswa dari total 254 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner pada skala: (1) Motivasi Berprestasi, (2) Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), (3) Self-Perception Profile for Adolescents (SPPA), dan (4) Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan meng- gunakan analisis regresi berganda (multiple regression analysis), sedangkan untuk pengujian validitas konstruk menggunakan Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang tua yang menerapkan gaya pengasuhan authoritative memiliki peluang lebih tinggi dalam men- ingkatkan motivasi berprestasi siswa dibandingkan dengan orang tua yang menerapkan gaya pengasu- han authoritarian atau permissive. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa proporsi varians dari mo- tivasi berprestasi yang dijelaskan oleh seluruh independent variable (IV) sebesar 31.9 %, dan sisanya 68.1 % dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain.Kata kunci : motivasi berprestasi, gaya pengasuhan, konsep diri, regulasi diri.

  • Pertimbangan Pemilihan Konsentrasi Pada Program Studi Manajemen Jenjang

      Abstract: Abstract: The Dynamics of Choosing Concentration in Undergraduate School of Management. The purpose of this an exploratory sequential research is to find out the reasons of students in choosing a concentration in undergraduate school of management. The qualitative exploratory was used to know the interest by spreading open-ended questionnaires to students of Undergraduate Program of Manage- ment Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Brawijaya University (FEB UB) of 2014 taken concentration. 169 informants are willing to give answers. Each answer was identified using CDC EZ- Text and coded based on the meaning. The result is 12 codes that show different reasons. Based on the code, close-ended questionnaires distributed to undergraduate students of Management Department FEB UB who took concentration, and obtained 125 respondents. Factor analysis produces three dimen- sions, the first dimension is the individual dinamycs, the second dimension is group dynamics, and the third dimension is the environmental dynamics.Keywords: reason, concentration, undergraduate school of managementAbstrak. Artikel hasil penelitian ini memaparkan mengenai alasan pemilihan konsentrasi. Ek- splorasi secara kualitatif dilakukan untuk mengungkap alasan alamiah pemilihan konsentrasi melalui kuesioner open-ended kepada mahasiswa Program Studi Sarjana Manajemen Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Brawijaya tahun masuk 2014 yang telah mengambil konsentrasi. Terdapat sejumlah 160 informan yang bersedia memberikan jawaban. Pengkodean dan pemaknaan setiap jawaban diiden- tifikasi menggunakan piranti lunak CDC EZ-Text. Terdapat 12 kode jawaban sebagai variabel yang menunjukkan makna berbeda untuk pengembangan instrumen bersifat close-ended yang disebarkan kepada 125 para responden. Hasil reduksi variabel melalui analisis faktor diperoleh 3 faktor sebagai dasar pertimbangan pemilihan konsentrasi, yaitu Faktor Dinamika Individual, Faktor Dinamika Kelom- pok, dan Faktor Dinamika Lingkungan.Kata Kunci: pemilihan konsentrasi, program studi manajemen jenjang

  • Identifikasi Model Manajemen Pengetahuan Universitas Swasta Di Jakarta

      Abstract: Abstract: : Identification of Knowledge Mangement Model at Private Universities in Jakarta. The focus of this research was the identification of knowledge management (KM) model and its application to university policy, leader commitment, and technology at five private universities in Jakarta. The data and information sources were taken from indepth interviews, closed questionnaire, and observations. The results of this study show: (1) excellent understanding at the leader level which supports the for- mation of KM culture in the university/faculty, (2) the establishment of KM culture in private universi- ties were influenced by the availability of budget, KM roadmaps, and the leader policies, (3) the leader policies are based on the KM to connect tightly with the university’s vision and mission, (4) the univer- sity’s vision is reflected in Tridharma and university’s business in order to reach more effective man- agement, and (5) utilization of KM supported with technology in private universities is a necessity, where data, information, knowledge, expertise, and the university’s capability could be stored and ex- tracted to meet current and future needs to become its distinction and uniqueness.Keyword: knowledge management, private universities, policy, leader commitment, information systemAbstrak: Identifikasi Model Manajemen Pengetahuan Universitas Swasta di Jakarta. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan identifikasi model manajemen pengetahuan (MP) penerapannya pada lima universitas swasta di Jakarta yang cakupannya adalah kebijakan universitas, komitmen pim- pinan, dan penggunaan teknologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode desktiptif bersumber dari wa- wancara mendalam, kuesioner tertutup, observasi, dan studi pustaka. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, display data, mengolah data, kesimpulan, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan: (1) pemahaman dan komitmen yang sangat baik pada level pimpinan mendorong terbentuknya budaya MP di universitas/fakultas; (2) pembentukan budaya MP dipengaruhi oleh ketersediaan anggaran, regulasi, dan pilot project; (3) visi misi belum di dukung sepenuhnya dengan regulasi MP universitas; (4) visi misi universitas mengacu pada tridharma dan bisnis universitas sehingga mengefektifkan pengelolaan MP; dan (5) keniscayaan optimalisasi penggunaan teknologi penunjang MP menjawab pemenuhan kebutuhan data, informasi, pengetahuan, keahlian, dan kapabilitas universitas di masa kini dan di masa mendatang. Pilot project MP di era digital lebih efektif jika memiliki rancangan berbasis digital juga dengan mempertimbangkan faktor pemberdaya MP sehingga arus pengetahuan memiliki manfaat untuk pengembangan akademik dan bisnis dalam untuk menciptakan pengetahuan-pengetahuan baru (inovasi).Kata Kunci: manajemen pengetahuan, universitas swasta, regulasi, komitmen pimpinan, sistem informasi
