  • The right to study the indigenous: seduction, stressing and difference in
           classrooms

    • Abstract: RESUMO: Este artigo trata de forma arrazoada do campo de atuação da Lei nº 11.645/08, a lei de obrigatoriedade do ensino indígena, aplicada no Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Irei analisar escolas da rede pública e um instituto de aplicação que contempla projetos acerca da lei e a produção de materiais didáticos sobre povos indígenas. O artigo não trata de um método comparativo entre as instituições nem de uma amostragem de métodos didáticos para a aplicação da lei que “funcionam”. Entender o conflito, a sedução e os estranhamentos quando mundos indígenas são apresentados a crianças é um dos pontos centrais deste artigo.ABSTRACT: This paper shows in an appropriate way the field of action of Law 11.645/08, the law of obligation of indigenous education, applied in the State of Rio de Janeiro. I will analyze public schools and an application institute that contemplates projects on the law and the p roduction of didactic material about indigenous peoples. The paper is not a comparative method between institutions, nor a sampling of didactic methods for law enforcement that “working”. Seeking to understanding the conflict, seduction and estrangement when indigenous worlds are presented to children is one of the central points of this paper.
       
  • Ten years later: the birdie’s light, the hummingbird’s wisdom

    • Abstract: RESUMO: O presente artigo aborda a produção diferenciada de materiais didáticos e propostas museológicas concebidas a partir de diferentes ações do Programa de Estudos dos Povos Indígenas da Faculdade de Educação da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (PROÍNDIO-UERJ) em 26 anos de existência, propondo estimular e difundir a sensibilidade e o conhecimento acerca dos indígenas, contribuindo, assim, para a formação, não apenas, de professores e educadores da educação infantil à pós-graduação. A análise inicialmente focaliza três experiências de editoração de livros, posteriormente recupera alguns exemplos de mostras expográficas que abordaram a temática dos povos indígenas no Rio de Janeiro e, por último, tece algumas reflexões sobre o público e suas interações. Trata-se de uma reflexão, ainda que parcial, da contribuição do PROÍNDIO na implementação da Lei nº 11.645.ABSTRACT: The present paper comments on the differentiated production of didactic materials and museological proposals conceived from different actions of PROÍNDIO-UERJ, in 26 years of existence, proposing to stimulate and spread the sensitivity and knowledge about the indigenous people. Thus, contributing to the formation, of not only teachers and educators from Children Education to post-graduation. The analysis initially focuses on three book publishing experiences, and then retrieves some examples of expository samples that approached the theme of indigenous peoples in Rio de Janeiro, and finally comments on some reflections on the public and their interactions. This is a reflection, albeit a partial one, of the contribution of PROÍNDIO in the implementation of Law 11.645.
       
  • Indigenous people as users of the law: an ethnographic study on how the
           movement of indigenous literature understands and uses Law No. 11.645/08

    • Abstract: RESUMO: Este artigo demonstra como o movimento indígena contemporâneo lança luz sobre a múltipla teia de relacionamentos entre os povos indígenas e a sociedade brasileira. A discussão irá responder à pergunta: como atores indígenas fizeram uso da Lei nº 11.645/2008 para atuar como agentes sociais fora de seus espaços tradicionais' Para tanto, fiz uso de uma abordagem metodológica de perspectiva indígena decorrente de minha experiência como observador e participante do movimento indígena conduzido pela caravana Mekukradjá, um projeto para disseminar a literatura indígena no Brasil. Essa discussão possibilita ver os indígenas não somente como objetos da lei, mas como sujeitos atuantes do próprio direito.ABSTRACT: This paper shows how the contemporary indigenous movement clearly demonstrates the multiple network of relationships between indigenous peoples and the Brazilian society. The discussion will answer the question: How did indigenous actors use Law No. 11.645/08 to act as social agents outside their traditional fields' In order to do this, a methodological approach was used from an indigenous perspective derived from my experience as an observer and participant in the indigenous movement led by the Mekukradjá caravan, a project to disseminate indigenous literature in Brazil. This discussion enables us to see indigenous people not only as objects of the law, but also as subjects of their own right.
       
  • 10 years of Law No. 11,645/08: advances and challenges

    • Abstract: RESUMO: Este artigo analisa os dez anos da Lei nº 11.645/2008, que instituiu a obrigatoriedade do ensino de História e culturas indígenas nas escolas públicas e privadas. O foco está em como a lei tem sido instituída, os avanços e desafios da temática no âmbito das escolas públicas, nas universidades e centros de formação do estado do Mato Grosso. Apresenta aspectos da Resolução Normativa nº 001/2013 do Conselho Estadual de Educação do Mato Grosso, que nos últimos anos propôs ações de implementação da Lei nº 11.645/2008 no estado. Analisa igualmente como a temática indígena tem sido acolhida nos currículos dos cursos da Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso e da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso.ABSTRACT: This article analyzes the 10 years of Law 11.645/08, which established the obligation of teaching History and indigenous culture in public and private schools. The main objective of this paper is to show how the law has been established, the progress and challenges of this issue in the context of public schools, universities and training centers in the state of Mato Grosso. I present aspects of Normative Resolution No. 001/2003/CEE-MT, which in recent years proposed actions for the implementation of Law 11.645 in the state. The way how indigenous issues have been accepted in the curricula of the courses of the Mato Grosso universities was also analyzed.
       
  • Traditional tupi knowledge: being together, learning, nhembojera

    • Abstract: RESUMO: O presente artigo buscou refletir sobre a dinâmica própria da transmissão de saberes e práticas tradicionais dos chamados tupi, registrados por cronistas franceses entre os séculos XVI e XVII, valorizando concepções indígenas relacionadas à biodiversidade. Para tanto, analisei algumas categorias classificatórias a respeito de plantas e animais que nos permitem discutir parte do sistema taxonômico e o modo como povos falantes da língua tupinambá nomeavam o que chamamos de natureza.ABSTRACT: The article tries to reflect on the dynamics of the transmission of traditional knowledge and practices of the Tupi, recorded by French chroniclers between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, valuing indigenous conceptions related to biodiversity. To this end, some classificatory categories regarding plants and animals were analyzed, allowing for the discussion of part of the taxonomic system and the way people speaking the Tupinambá language knew.
       
  • Intercultural experiences in the university: the presence of indigenous
           people and contributions to Law No. 11.645/08

    • Abstract: RESUMO: Na expectativa de sensibilizar a nossa percepção do ver e de nos permitir ser afetados pelas relações epistêmicas outras produzidas, o artigo tem como objetivos apresentar e refletir sobre as contribuições que a presença dos acadêmicos indígenas trazem para as disciplinas que são amparadas ou atravessadas pelos conteúdos da Lei nº 11.645/08 e que têm possibilitado a experiência de descentramento do pensamento hegemônico que domina a academia. Depoimentos de indígenas e não indígenas evidenciam as fissuras, as produções e as reelaborações que têm sido produzidas nesses espaços de tensão acadêmica.ABSTRACT: In the expectation of sensitizing our perception of seeing and allowing ourselves to be affected by these “other” epistemic relationships produced, the article aims to present and reflect the contributions that the presence of indigenous academics brings to the disciplines that are supported or crossed by the contents of Law 11.645/08 and that has enabled the experience of decentralization of hegemonic thinking that dominates the academy. Testimonies of indigenous and non-indigenous people highlight the fissures, productions and re-elaborations that have been produced in these areas of academic tension.

           An omission in the Analysis of Indo-American Reality

    • Abstract: RESUMEN: La sociolingüística en América Latina es una ciencia que se ocupa de las reivindicaciones socioculturales indoamericanas, que implican la desigualdad social en lenguas y culturas comunicativas. En este trabajo se esboza un panorama sobre la desigualdad y la estratificación en la funcionalidad de las lenguas históricas indígenas, haciendo una distinción entre experiencias o discusiones políticas sobre poblaciones indígenas, a modo de historia externa, y la constitución científica de la desigualdad social en el lenguaje como objeto de la lingüística.ABSTRACT: Sociolinguistics in Latin America is a science that deals with the sociocultural claims of the Indo-Americans, which imply social inequality in communicative languages and cultures. In this work, a panorama is drawn about inequality and stratification in the functionality of indigenous historical languages, making a distinction between experiences or political discussions on indigenous populations, in the form of external hi tory, and the scientific constitution of social inequality in language as an object of linguistics.

En este trabajo se esboza un panorama sobre la desigualdad y la estratificación en la funcionalidad de las lenguas históricas indígenas, haciendo una distinción entre experiencias o discusiones políticas sobre poblaciones indígenas, a modo de historia externa, y la constitución científica de la desigualdad social en el lenguaje como objeto de la lingüística.ABSTRACT: Sociolinguistics in Latin America is a science that deals with the sociocultural claims of the Indo-Americans, which imply social inequality in communicative languages and cultures. In this work, a panorama is drawn about inequality and stratification in the functionality of indigenous historical languages, making a distinction between experiences or political discussions on indigenous populations, in the form of external hi tory, and the scientific constitution of social inequality in language as an object of linguistics.
