Un colloque international sous forme de webinaire Ce colloque, organisé les 14 et 15 novembre 2018 à Besançon par le laboratoire Elliadd de l'université de Franche-Comté, sous la responsabilité de Sophie Othman, sera l'occasion de prolonger la collaboration avec Alsic, initiée en 2017.   • Researching language learning in a digital age: how can we achieve

Presentation As we seek to learn and teach in this brave new digital world, how can we blend technology with human intervention in the most productive and painless way' This talk will contribute to the conference's wider theme by building on the framework of "Normalisation" which I proposed over a decade ago (Bax, 2003). I will argue that viewing technology through the lens of Normalisation can help us not only to frame our language pedagogy effectively, but also to research human/technological interactions with a sharper focus. The ultimate aim is to ensure that when a new technology is introduced into language education we get beyond the "wow" factor so as to achieve more effective learning.       Abstract: 1. Presentation Language Centers in the United States have been reacting to disruptive changes for decades. What started out as technology-enabled listening and recording facilities with a clearly defined mission–the language laboratories–have evolved into a set of multi-purpose support, teaching, research, social, and hybrid spaces. In his keynote address, Dr. Kronenberg presents this adaptation process, its outcomes, and the current state of language centers and language center design in the US. He discusses how language centers are becoming curated language learning spaces, community of practice hubs, and catalysts of innovation. Many language centers in the US are moving away from massive technology installations to more flexible, more adaptable, more diverse spaces.       Abstract: Le présent article relate une étude exploratoire des compétences techno-sémio-pédagogiques d'apprentis tuteurs dans un dispositif de télécollaboration s'appuyant sur plusieurs environnements numériques. Plus précisément, l'un des objectifs de cette contribution est d'élaborer une méthode pour l'observation des traces des compétences techno-sémio-pédagogiques des tuteurs dans différents environnements. Ainsi, dans le cadre de la théorie de la pertinence, nous étudions les réalisations des régulations pédagogiques par un binôme d'apprentis tuteurs à travers les affordances, d'une part, d'une plateforme d'apprentissage asynchrone et, d'autre part, d'une plateforme de webconférence.   • The role of coaching in teacher competence development for
           telecollaboration

      Abstract: The use of telecollaboration (TC) is gradually increasing across the different stages of education. However, TC is still seen as an add-on in the language classroom for various reasons: difficulty in changing the pedagogical mindset in mainstream education to engage in innovative explorations, inadequate training, lack of support, additional time and effort that these activities require or constraints imposed by the curriculum. In addition, teachers must master a number of very diverse competences in order for TC to be successful. The present contribution explores the role of the "coach" in TC, in an attempt to determine whether his/her assistance can help teachers develop some of those key competences. A total of 23 secondary school teachers participated in this case study as part of the EU-funded project TILA.            élicitation des clitiques objets du français L2

      Abstract: La communication médiée par les technologies est perçue par plusieurs auteurs comme étant moins anxiogène et plus propice à une meilleure production langagière de la part des apprenants des L2 que dans un contexte de communication face à face. Cependant, d'autres sont d'avis qu'il n'existe aucune différence entre les deux modes de communication en ce qui a trait à la performance linguistique. Nous avons mené une expérience auprès d'un groupe d'apprenants du français langue seconde de niveau intermédiaire-avancé. Nous avons mesuré la performance linguistique de ces apprenants pendant la réalisation de deux types de tâches langagières : une face à face et l'autre médiée par Skype. Les participants ont également répondu à deux questionnaires : un questionnaire dont le but est de mesurer leur degré d'anxiété langagière et un autre pour sonder leur degré d'anxiété informatique.   • Listening to the Multiple Voices in an Intercultural Telecollaborative
           Multilingual Digital Storytelling Project: A Bakhtinian perspective

      Abstract: Although a growing number of studies have recently been focusing on the affordances of digital storytelling as a multimodal tool, relatively little attention has been given to the collaborative process during digital story construction and how that may affect what the participants gain from the experience. This paper focuses on an intercultural telecollaborative multilingual digital storytelling project between pre-service French as-a-second-language teachers in Canada and university-level EFL students in Taiwan. The researchers lean on Bakhtin's concept of dialogism and Fairclough's concepts of assumption/intertextuality to look into how the international partners negotiated to accomplish digital storytelling assignments, how their own voices were expressed during the telecollaborative writing process, and how this affected their completed digital stories.            telecollaboration

      Abstract: This article reports on an international eGroups telecollaboration involving two groups of tertiary learners in universities located in Germany and New Zealand. Their target languages English and German played a "joint curricular role" (García, 2009) in their collaborative inquiry into contemporary global issues. Data from three selected synchronous interactions were examined for this study to understand how one group of learners developed and sustained cohesive relations as part of building a learner community. The exploratory research seeks to understand how these learners built a sense of community to sustain their interactions and negotiation of meaning and ways in which they utilized their linguistic repertoires to do so.

  • Contribution/soutien des espaces à l'autodirection : un exemple
           d'hybridation du virtuel et du physique à l'université de Lorraine

      Abstract: Contrairement à certaines plateformes de e-learning commerciales qui tendent à vider les espaces physiques dans les institutions de formation en langues, la plateforme en cours de création à l'université de Lorraine a été pensée, dès sa genèse, pour soutenir l'apprentissage auto-dirigé des langues en Centre de ressources en langues (CRL) (Maquart-Willié, 2012) et en faire la promotion. Elle est appelée à devenir un des piliers d'un environnement global qui comprend également les différents CRL de l'université, l'objectif étant de faciliter l'autonomisation des apprentissages de langues. Plutôt que de mettre en concurrence les espaces physiques et virtuels, cet environnement vise leur hybridation ou symbiose.
