  • Car Leasing in Lebanon from the Perspective of the Lessor

    • Authors: Samih Antoine Azar, Rana Obeid
      First page: 14
Abstract: This is a theoretical case study on car leasing in Lebanon from the perspective of the lessor. Although the methodology can be applied elsewhere we chose to take into consideration local domestic features. The procedure adopted is to start from a base model and then change the parameters of the model with the use of the command Data Table in Excel. We are able to conclude that car leasing can be a very profitable business even with modest input characteristics. The two factors that are highly relevant are the credit or financing limit, and the market salvage value, that both are critical to the lessor. We therefore recommend that car leasing firms pay particular attention on the natural depreciation of the car, choose, if possible, the customers with a good driving record, and equip the car with enhanced security measures. Alternatively the lessor can buy “full-risk” insurance against all damages to the car. This will help in mitigating the agency costs and the concomitant moral hazard that arise from the separation of ownership and control. Additionally the car leasing firm should aim to raise as much as possible its own borrowing capacity by appealing to its relative advantage from the pooling effect of holding a fleet of cars. Other factors, like, lending, or leasing rates, and borrowing rates, taxes, the recovery amount of the car, the car purchase price, and the assumed ROE have little effects.

  • Decision Making Using Multicriteria Analysis: A Case Study of Decision
           Modeling Career in Education

    • Authors: Ioannis Dimitrakopoulos, Kostas Karamanis
      First page: 24
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to offer an applicable evaluation framework relating to the right choice of one’s profession via his/her studies. The first part of the paper consists of the basic principles of Multicriteria Decision Making. To begin with, the paper initially focuses on the Macbeth Method. This helps to provide a perspective for procedural types of decisions in which various qualitative and quantitative aspects are incorporated. In the second part of the paper, the above-mentioned multicriteria method is applied to a “real-world” case concerning a specific case of a student, Eva. For this specific study, it is concluded that the factors of greatest importance that lead to choosing the University Eva finally chose, were four: the cost of undergraduate studies, the reputation-status of the University, its logistics and infrastructure and its interconnections with other Universities and other Academic Institutions.

  • Women in Leadership Positions, Road to Success, A Case Study, Bahrain

    • Authors: Samar Jawdat Al-Barghouthi
      First page: 52
Abstract: Bahrain is a Muslim Arab tribal society, where women play a significant role in the countries’ development, and the number of female business leaders is increasing rapidly. Understanding the circumstances that brought these women to the forefront of business in their country will lead to constructing a better business environment for women in the future. The aim of this study is to explore these women in terms of: the secret behind their successes, their beliefs, and motivation towards leadership. The study tries to identify the “gap” in the scholarly literature on Bahraini women in business, and to provide in-depth data on female leaders in the region. The study employs the inductive approach, using an in-depth qualitative open-ended interview, developed and based on the contingency leadership theory. And the Weber framework of authority. The results indicate that the main factors contributing to the success of women leaders are social status, cultural, gender, struggle, and difficulties from women leaders’ point of view. This is a pilot study for further in-depth quantitative research in Bahrain and the GCC countries. This study is made up of eight samples. It is anticipated that future comparative research will be extended to a further quantitative study to cover a wider sample of Bahrain and GCC countries. The paper is considered as one of the first to discuss the factors affecting the success of businesswomen in Bahrain, rather than the factors that empower them.

  • The Transformation of Customer Satisfaction Become Customer Delight

    • Authors: Christian Wiradendi Wolor, Hady Efendy
      First page: 109
Abstract: Consumer satisfaction is considered a prerequisite for the emergence of positive behavior. It is not always the case. Several previous studies have suggested that it is not enough to simply provide satisfaction for customers because there is some low correlation between satisfaction and loyalty. This may explain why satisfied customers still leave the company. Executives from reputable companies engaged in services affirm that it is not enough to simply provide customer satisfaction, and is a priority to drive customer satisfaction into customer delight. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of customer delight in improving customer commitment and customer loyalty. The field method and questionnaires were used to collect data. Statistical tools used in this research is Structural Equation Model (SEM). Data are analyzed by using statistical software LISREL 8.5. The result shows that brand trust, customer satisfaction, customer delight, customer commitment have positive effect on customer loyalty. Customer delight has the most influence on customer loyalty.

  • A Case Study of CPS Energy’s Management of Disruptive Forces

    • Authors: John Soltau, Ryan Lunsford
      First page: 130
Abstract: Two major forces continue to drive disruption in the utility space; technological innovation in the form of distributive energy resources (DER), and energy efficiency/demand response (EE/DR). These forces drive down demand which, in turn, directly leads to decreased revenues for utility companies. As a result, the utility responds by seeking higher rates, which decreases demand and increases economic incentive for DER and EE/DR (Kind, 2013). These two disruptions continue their influence as these increased rates lead to lower customer satisfaction levels, incentivizing the adoption of additional DER and EE/DR products, perpetuating the cycle. As a municipal monopoly CPS Energy (CPSE) faces a number of real threats and opportunities as they ride this wave of disruption. This case study will analyze the impact of the DER and EE/DR forces on CPSE and their opportunities.
