Abstract: This study is based on the fact that there are many problems of sexual violence against women in Indonesia in general, and in Ambon city in particular. The list of female violence in Indonesia is increasing significantly every year, both published and unpublished because of the hidden culture. This study aims to reveal the data of sexual violence occurring in urban communities, particularly Ambon, Desa Passo, and to find out the tragic stories experienced by victims, and to describe a transformative pastoral approach that can be conducted by the church to assist victims, as well as make awareness  the perpetrators of the violence against women, which is not in accordance to the will of God. The study uses qualitative research methods and interview techniques as a means of gathering information/data to achieve research objectives. This study found that cases of violence against women tended to increase, and victims often silenced the case because of the culture of shame (hidden culture) to hide cases of violence in order not to be known by others. It is also the reason how the difficulty for law enforcement to the crime. Therefore, it needs a transformative pastoral approach to free the victims from the hidden culture and affirming the existence of the victim so that they can be healed from a prolonged traumatic experience.

  • Dialog Antropologis Antaragama dengan Spiritualitas Passing Over

    • Authors: Stephanus Turibius Rahmat
Abstract: Inter-religious dialogue is very important discourse in the context of many religions in Indonesia. Inter-religious dialogue is the efforts to solve the difficulty of a relationship among each other followers of religions in which some conflicts and strained situations often happened. This article is a theoretical study in the purpose to describe the matter of inter-religious dialogue and formulate the model of inter-religious dialogue for creating the tolerance, the harmony, the safeness, and the peace in the religious life. By using the librarian research, the resulting study discovered that any models of inter-religious dialogue can be categorized into two models of inter-religious dialogue that are ‘theological-spiritual dialogue’ and ‘social humanity dialogue’. Theologically and spiritually, all religions have a universal message and passing over spirit (out of the border of religions) in greatly committing to the human values. Anthropologically, the presence of all religion aims to bring the enlightenment and the enthusiasm of life among their adherents. It can be concluded that anthropological dialogue based on passing over spirituality is one of the interaction model in inter-religious dialogue, or positive and constructive communication which is oriented to create the safeness and the peace in the religious life, based on passing over spirituality, in which all religions have the initial spirit of the presence that religion plays a role to illuminate (illuminative), save (prophetic), liberate (liberative) and transform (transformative). Here, religion has a self-image as rahmatan lil ‘alamīn.

  • Crystallization of The Quran: An Analysis of John Wansbrough’s
           Theory

    • Authors: Ahmad Sanusi Azmi
Abstract: In the early nineteenth century, modern scholars began to explore materials of Quranic studies within the framework of a historical-critical method. Novel arguments were presented in challenging the traditional account of the formation of the Quran with a various range of theory. It seems that the most radical assessment was demonstrated by John Wansbrough in his exceptional works, Quranic Studies: Sources and Methods of Scriptural. The literary analysis employed by John Wansbrough in his study on the Quran lead to a novel historic inference. This article aims to explore the theory of late crystallization of the Quran as proposed by John Wansbrough. This study is the qualitative research in which the researcher uses the study of the comparative text analysis. The resulting study asserts that Wansbrough’s theory is a new discovery which has given the new impact and the new path in the Quranic studies. His conclusion is not accepted by all scholars. Some scholars regarded Wansbrough’s evidence that he used as an argument is not absolutely convincing.

  • Konsep dan Penerapan Takwil Muhammad Quraish Shihab dalam Tafsir
           Al-Mishbah

    • Authors: Dedi Junaedi
Abstract: The problem of ta’wīl  in Qur’anic studies is regarded as one of the controversial issues. It requires a holistic study on ta’wīl. Some scholars still criticized the takwil as a method of understanding of the Qur’an. Some qur’anic commentators who did not give their commentaries will say Allāhu a’lamu bi murādihi (It is only God who knows the meaning). However, another commentator did not agree with them. They then use ta’wīl. One of qur’anic scholars who used ta’wīl  is Muhammad Quraish Shihab. He is an Indonesian qur’anic commentator. One of his works is ‘Tafsir al-Mishbah’. It can be called as a remarkable work of tafsir. He used the different method of qur’anic interpretation. He has a deep linguistic approach and comprehensive understanding. He also uses an approach of tafsīr bi al-ra’yi  that also used the traditional source as well.

  • Kontroversi Hadis sebagai Sumber Hukum Islam

    • Authors: Wahyudin Darmalaksana, Lamlam Pahala, Endang Soetari
Abstract: The position of hadith as the source of Islamic law has brought about a problematic long debate between the denial and the defender of hadith. The problemes surrounding the hadith's position concerns the hadith in the aḥad category which is contrasted with the mutawtir category. This study aims to analyze the position of hadith as a source of Islamic law. This researcāh uses qualitative research method through literature study by using a content analysis methode to obtain a conclusion. The discussion of this study presents the arguments surrounding hadith as the source of Islamic law among its denials and defenders. The denial of the hadith takes the ijtihād rather than positioning the aḥad hadith as the source of Islamic law. Thus, the defenders of hadith from the experts of hadith still insist on asserting hadith as the source of Islamic law even though it is a category of aḥad by developing a systematic methode of hadith research. This study concludes that the problemes surrounding the position of hadith as a source of Islamic law have given rise to positive dynamics for the development of the methodology of hadith research.

  • Kitab Suci dan Hoax: Pandangan Alquran dalam Menyikapi Berita Bohong

    • Authors: Luthfi Maulana
Abstract: The raising of hoax phenomenon in the social media is very excessive, especially the impact has been divisive Muslims, whereas the roots of the emergence of the hoax itself is nothing but the influence of global development and the advancement of science and technology, so that humans are pampered with a variety of sophisticated facilities, these facilities cause human beings entitled to freedom of expression. It is this freedom which gives birth to human communication with others indefinitely, even with the media of a person free to express public opinion, through this, one becomes free in exploring the interests of each, especially in realizing a mission of existence by the interests of a particular group, on this basis, regardless of how the impact of the hoax itself works, the groups produce and circulate the hoax news in the public sphere. In response, this study focuses on the Quranic view of the phenomenon of hoax or hoax. Through this descriptive method, this study confirms that the Qur'an as a guideline for Muslims needs to be re-dialled to the Islamic society of today, so through the Qur'an we can see how the hoax itself has been described in it, and how we as Muslims can work to avoid the plague of the hoax itself.
