  • Seroprevalence of Antibodies for Rubella and Cytomegalovirus among
Pregnant and Antenatal Females in Western Turkey

    • Authors: Serdar GÜNGÖR; Berrin UZUN
Abstract: Primary infections caused by rubella andcytomegalovirus (CMV) can lead to serious complications due to theirpotentially teratogenic effects during pregnancy. Rubella and CMV screening ofpregnant females is not routinely carried out in Turkey. The purpose of thisstudy was to determine the prevalence of rubella and cytomegalovirus in Izmiramong pregnant and antenatal females, and to review seroprevalences reportedfrom different regions of Turkey.BetweenJanuary 2011 and December 2015, we retrospectively evaluated anti-rubellaantibodies and anti-CMV antibodies of pregnant and antenatal females. Femalesaged 18-45  years were included in thestudy. Rubella and CMV IgM and G antibodies were tested using the IMMULITE®2000XPi İmmunoassay System. Rubella IgG and rubella IgM seropositivity weredetected in 16,255 (96.5%) of 16,845 and in 206 (1.1%) of the 18,720 pregnantand antenatal females, respectively. Positivity for the anti-CMV IgG andanti-CMV IgM antibody were found in 11,950 (98.7%) and 40 (0.3%) of 13,412females. In conclusion, this study showed that in our province, a highpercentage of pregnant and antenatal females had been exposed to rubella andCMV prior to reaching a child-bearing age. Rubella and CMV seroprevalences showa relatively homogeneous distribution throughout Turkey.

           Study

    • Authors: Derya ATİK; Hilal KUŞCU KARATEPE, Ulviye ÖZCAN YÜCE, Fatma Nuray KUŞCU
Abstract: The adolescence period is a complex period in whichthe individual transitions from childhood to adulthood with biological, psychological and social changes and is in the process of creating a uniqueidentity. The pregnancies added to this mess are an important problem for thewhole world. There are many factors that play a role in adolescent pregnanciesand these pregnancies bring short and long term adverse consequences bothindividually and socially.Themain purpose of this study is to determine how university students perceive andunderstand adolescent pregnancies based on their own expressions; The causes ofadolescent pregnancies, the process of gestation and the results of variousaspects. For this reason, the study explains how university students withvarious sociodemographic characteristics understand adolescent pregnancies byqualitative method. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with focusgroup interview method using a semi-structured interview form with 22 HealthSchool students. Students; Contrary to the sociodemographic characteristics ofadolescent marriage contrary to the prediction of pregnancy and pregnancy isnot correct, yet at this stage the individuals are not ready for thisbiological and psychological aspects; These pregnancies are caused by lack ofeducation, family print, economic concerns and traditional teachings; As aresult, these pregnancies are a serious condition threatening the health of themother and baby in terms of physical, psychological and social aspects, makingit economically only possible for men to be socially traumatized; The basiccondition required to prevent them is to increase the educational level of theadolescents and their families and to impose adverse legal sanctions on thosewho force adolescents. Another striking point is that adolescent marriages andpregnancies in the Mediterranean region are mostly the result of girls'association with their own survival (escape); In the Southeastern and EasternAnatolia Regions, the family decision was made irrespective of the ration. As aresult, these expressions of the School of Health students, who will be membersof the health team in the future; The prevention of adolescent marriages andpregnancies can be used as a point of departure for the evaluation andpromotion of adolescent maternal health in all aspects of marriage in thisperiod.

  • The Ergonomics in the Operations among the Units of Hospitals: The Example
           of Sultan Hospital in Diyarbakır

    • Authors: F. Demet AYKAL; Meltem ERBAŞ, Bişeng Jinda KARAKAŞ
Abstract: The operation of hospital’s policlinic, clinic, taking a blood sample, getting results etc., its own mechanism, and therelationship of these units with each other must be correctly fictionalized. Atthe same time, the determination of layout plays an important role ergonomicallyas well as being very important in terms of receiving and providing qualityservices. One of the most important problems is the workflow of service unitsin the hospitals where they serve in the different density and have a complexphysical structure every moment of the day. In hospitals, it is supposed to bedetected suitable size of the residential areas for each unit by determiningnecessary human power and the needs of machine in accordance with therelationship of workflow among them. Thus, the medical negatives experienced inthe hospital will be removed and all staff’s productivity with the ergonomicworkflows which will be arranged will increase. From this point of view, it isintended to examine ergonomics from the points of workers, patients andpatient’s relatives among units in the hospitals. Considering the historicaldevelopments of it, it is focused on the important of the principle ofergonomics in this examination. Later on, it is touched upon ergonomic designand the effects on users among units in hospitals. In this context, therelationships which are required to be among them and the structure of unitswere evaluated by taking over function between units as a perspective of SultanHospital. To specify the problems and hitches in this relationship, between 8thand 22nd of May at 09.00-12.00 / 13.00-17.00, a questionnaire of 12 questionswas conducted to 150 users, 59 men and 91 women, who were the staff ofhospital, patients and their relatives by using the technique of random sampleface to face like a quinary conversation. The data obtained in SPSS 23.0Statistical Data Analysis Program was analyzed. The diagram of workflow wasmanufactured towards the usage of ergonomics during designing by offeringsolution recommendation in the direction of analyzes for problem areas.
