    • Authors: Kanga Konan Arsene

  • Alexandru Dimitrie Xenopol's Historical Eloquence

    • Authors: Neculai MUSCALU, Maria Loredana PENTELESCU (BUCULEI)
Abstract: : This paper focuses on historical terminology (Istoria Românilor din Dacia Traiană), organised on an objective, where the historian (Alexandru Dimitrie Xenopol) attempts to communicate with his contemporary receptors, i.e. the nineteenth century, a terminology analysed from the perspective of the scientific terminology in use nowadays. The aim of the historian, i.e. A. D. Xenopol, was, besides asserting a scientific reality addressed to his colleagues, to clear for his contemporaries the relevance of the permanence of their existence within a natural space: within this Carpathian-Danube landscape, there is a population called Romanians that evolved at the time of the events triggered by the Emperor Trajan (the conquest of Dacia). The type of scientific discourse of history in A. D. Xenopol describes, refers to, informs, and uses the linguistic symbol together with photographs, maps, tables, charts that address a reader (listener).

  • L'Amant; L'espace de L'Autre et le Plaisir du Texte

    • Authors: Sarah Parvaiz
Abstract: Marguerite Duras was born in Indochina in 1914 and died in Paris in 1996. Between these two polarities of her life all the major themes of her work find their place. Duras inscribed the condition of one who could never choose between Asia and Europe, to the extent that this ambivalence forms the nucleus of her literature. This major paradox of Duras’ oeuvre is quintessentially expressed in her most famous work L’Amant. Here, the distinction between the personal space and the space of the other seems to disappear. My paper is an attempt to prove that in Duras’ oeuvre the tension between the European self and the Asian other does not fall under the category broadly defined as Orientalism (Said, 1978). Rather, Duras integrates them into a constant monologue, whose ultimate meaning is to generate the pleasure of reading. Borrowing some of the key elements of Said’s theory and also drawing on Homi Bhabha’s notion of hybridity, I will show that Duras’ literature is an enduring example of how the personal space and the space of the other can be reconciled in the name of what Roland Barthes called le plaisir du text.

  • Interaction of Computer and Language through Computational Terminology

    • Authors: Georgiana Tofan
Abstract: To understand relationship between computer and language, this article attempts an overview of computational terminology, including various linguistics aspects generated through electronic medium. The advent of each new computational stage provides different language situations, whose functionality in new roles implies linguistic analysis, such as for terminology extractions or electronic discourses.  Concomitant with the approach to aspects of computational terminology, we intended to emphasize the importance of choosing the appropriate technical and linguistic methods, in order to acquire efficiency in established contacts between computer and language. As a result to Internet communication, Netspeak comes to capture the aspects of electronic world, according to interactions between users.

           ferrofluid core

    • Authors: Corneliu Buzduga, Abdelkader Benabou
Abstract: This article focuses on the study of a coil the air gap with ferrofluid. The coil used is basically a glass tube that was wound 22 turns and 100 turns of copper wire of 1 mm thickness. By tilting the coil with a resolution of 10 degrees, in descending order I noticed that the amount of coil impedance changes.

  • RESPONSE STUDY OF A MEMS WITH INERTIAL SENSOR USED IN AUTOMOBILE DESIGN

    • Authors: Viorel Ciornei
Abstract: Micro-electromechanical systems with inertial sensors are included in many applications.  For this study was used an ADXL278 accelerometer.  Experimental attempt had as purpose to determinate the correlation between acceleration amplitude detected by the acceleration transducer and its output voltage amplitude.  To achieve the experimental tests an electrodynamic modified sound speaker was used to simulate acceleration.  Experimental measurements exhibit that, until a relative high acceleration level, this chip is operating very well as accelerometer, having a linear characteristic between acceleration and output voltage amplitude.

  • Design and development of a RFID reader with carrier frequency of 125 KHz

    • Authors: Lucian Nicolae Cojocariu
Abstract: This paper presents the development of a low frequency Radio Frequency Identification transceiver system aimed at providing non-contact solutions for identifying, monitoring, and tracking people, animals, and objects. The communication between Radio Frequency Identification reader and transponder is done wireless. When the transponder is placed in the electromagnetic field emitted by the RFID reader antenna, it is activated and the information stored is transmitted in digital form by modulating the field emitted by the reader antenna. Various antenna configurations were analyzed and the optimal configuration was chosen for the implementation.

  • Development of a Radiofrequency Phase Shifter for use in Phased and Smart
           Antenna Arrays

    • Authors: Octavian Modest Manu
Abstract: This paper presents the development of an ultra-high frequency phase shifter for use in phased arrays or smart antenna arrays. Several methods used in obtaining phase shifts of radio frequency signals are described along with a summary of advantages and disadvantages of each method. The solution adopted in the end is based on the use of a vector modulator in order to obtain a phase shifter capable of modifying both phase and amplitude of the signal. In the end the practical implementation of an advance phase shifter based on an Analog Devices 1GHz vector modulator is presented.

  • UPON FINITE LENGTH LINE CONTACTS BETWEEN NONLINEAR ELASTIC BODIES

    • Authors: Ionut Romanu
Abstract: The paper reveal some studies conducted on infinite length line contacts between nonlinear elastic bodies and proposes several applications for the study of finite length line contacts between such bodies. The determined numerical values for contact half-width and maximum contact pressure at different load levels are graphically represented and then compared with ones obtained for the case of elastic bodies in contact. Evolution of contact half-width and maximum pressure with load are presented too.
