  • The Novohispanic Creoles Against the Degeneration Theory: From Apologetics
           to Assertion

Abstract: The appearance of a degeneration theory encompassed in the racial scientificism of the 18th century meant a huge blow to the status, condition and dignity of New Spain’s Creole people. The popularity and influence of such theory ended up generating an energetic response from the Creoles, creating an apologetic endeavor and a desire of revindication. This article pretends to describe and analyze such circumstances, recognizing it as another manifestation of the phenomenon of the caste discourse.

  • Brahman and The West. Conscience and Liberation in Śaṁkara’s Advaita
           Thought

Abstract: This article’s goal is to show the path towards liberation proposed by the Advaita through an alternative manner of comprehending the act of knowing; this is, linking it to the conscience and separating it from a mere intellectual act. In the same manner, the central operating approach of the Advaita is referred to by turning to the texts of the Vākyavritti’s, the Ātmabodha and the Bhagavad-Gītā, that is: the importance of dissolving oneself in Brahman as a definitive exercise of non-duality consummation. Finally, some existing links between the ideas proposed in the Advaita and Heidegger’s philosophy, will be pointed out, especially with regard to each approach about nothingness, and alternative paths towards the non-dual comprehension of the human philosophical exercise in the West and the East.

  • Scope and Limitations of non-violence. A Critique from Paul Ricoeur’s
position and the Positive Perspective of Peace Building.

Abstract: Nonviolent movements mainly characterized by not taking part in and resisting violent practices developed no multiple levels have had a significant contribution in putting an end to wars and oppressive systems. However, it is worth asking whether they have, consequently, contributed to the construction of peace. This article, centered on Gandhi, reflects upon the general contribution of nonviolence for historical changes articulated through Paul Ricoeur’s critique and interpretation of the influence of these movements in the intricate relationship between politics and violence.

  • New realism and analogic realism

Abstract: In this article, we explore what Maurizio Ferraris’ “New realism” consists of, and later we do the same thing with Mauricio Beuchot’s “analogical realism”. In the conclusions we have pointed out a few points not clear in both realisms, and we propose the ontological trinity of the real, idea and moral beings, following the ontology proposed by Antonio Rosmini.

  • Possibility of an Absolute Foundation of Morality. The Ethics of
           Immortality of Quentin Meillassoux

Abstract: We report here the proposal of French philosopher Quentin Meillassoux (n. 1967) that it is necessary and possible to assume an idea of absolute justice and therefore justify in an absolute way our commitment to righteous action and other moral values. The rigorous argument of Meillassoux, still novel and surprising, goes against not only various modern conceptions of justice and morality, but also against general conceptions of morality and justice that have occurred in the histories of thought and of culture. His basic thesis, as we present it here, will be displayed through a concept neither theological nor religious of the "divine," (the "virtual God") but a philosophical-rational one (and yet not opposed to science), also it is a refutation of modern atheism and its variants. To clarify the meaning of Meillassoux’s ethics of immortality towards the end we compare them to Kantian ethics, showing how the first solve problems unsolved by the second.

  • Sensible Peception and Language in Heidegger, Zubiri and Lonergan

Abstract: This article examines the views of Heidegger, Zubiri and Lonergan regarding the role of language in sensible perception. Firstly, following Cristina Lafont, Heidegger’s position is presented as a linguistic idealism. Secondly, an analysis of Zubiri’s thesis about the primordial apprehension of reality as something not linguistically mediated is analyzed. Lastly, Lonergan’s position, which states that language allows us to bring into focus certain aspects of experience, is examined.
