      Pages: 1 - 10
Abstract: In this era of globalization, an organization needs to adapt to the competitions in order to maintain its existence. However, information technology (IT) governance development and application is sometimes not effective, which consequently ends as a failure. Such extent is attributable to lack of thorough analysis of organizational needs, particularly, in the scope of organizational culture. In this regards, this study attempts to carry out the contributions of organizational culture aspect to the development of IT governance. Good strategies of IT governance are ordinarily well applied in most organizations. The organizations, in fact, struggle to find a proper framework or model of IT governance with their characters. A quantitative method through document study and questionnaire. The data were obtained through The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) questionnaire with 450 respondents. The importance of organizational culture towards the application of IT governance that an organization can decide a suitable model of development with the organization goals. The role of organizational culture is crucial for the leader, as one key factor of success in IT governance, in formulating harmonious strategies of IT utilization policy with business strategy. Furthermore, it also acts as a recommendation for organizations to design better IT governance which is suitable for organization strategies and vision.

  • Information Technology Adoption, Corporate Governance and Bank Performance

    • Authors: Umi Muawanah, Gunadi Gunadi
      Pages: 11 - 17
Abstract: Many academicians and practitioners have been acknowledging that information technology (IT) adoption could improve company performance. However, previous research indicates contradictory evidence. These inconsistencies can be attributed to variations among the studies in choosing proxy for IT adoption and due to contingent on other factors. This research aims at analyzing the influence of a contingent factor that is corporate governance (CG) concerning the effectiveness of IT adoption in influencing company performance measured by change in return on assets. Two proxies are used for IT adoption:  company expenses on IT and the level of the organization managing IT.  Data is collected and analyzed from annual reports of all banks listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2011 to 2013. Multiple linear regression models are employed. This research shows that corporate governance practice could improve the effectiveness of IT adoption in improving company performance.  This research implies that better CG practices in providing direction and monitoring on IT can lead to better company performance.

  • Evaluation of Software Quality to Improve Application Performance Using Mc
           Call Model

    • Authors: Inda D Lestantri, Rosini Rosini
      Pages: 18 - 24
Abstract: The existence of software should have more value to improve the performance of the organization in addition to having the primary function to automate. Before being implemented in an operational environment, software must pass the test gradually to ensure that the software is functioning properly, meeting user needs and providing convenience for users to use it. This test is performed on a web-based application, by taking a test case in an e-SAP application. E-SAP is an application used to monitor teaching and learning activities used by a university in Jakarta. To measure software quality, testing can be done on users randomly. The user samples selected in this test are users with an age range of 18 years old up to 25 years, background information technology. This test was conducted on 30 respondents. This test is done by using Mc Call model. Model of testing Mc Call consists of 11 dimensions are grouped into 3 categories. This paper describes the testing with reference to the category of product operation, which includes 5 dimensions. The dimensions of testing performed include the dimensions of correctness, usability, efficiency, reliability, and integrity. This paper discusses testing on each dimension to measure software quality as an effort to improve performance. The result of research is e-SAP application has good quality with product operation value equal to 85.09%. This indicates that the e-SAP application has a great quality, so this application deserves to be examined in the next stage on the operational environment.

  • Hepatitis Diagnosis Using Case-Based Reasoning with Gradient Descent as
           Feature Weighting Method

    • Authors: Yufika Sari Bagi, Suprapto Suprapto
      Pages: 25 - 31
Abstract: Retrieval is one of the stages in case-based reasoning system which find a solution to new problem or case by measuring the similarity between the new case and old cases in the case base. Some of the similarity measurement techniques are involving feature weights that show the importance of the feature in a case. Feature weights can be obtained from a domain expert or by using a feature weighting method either locally or globally. Gradient descent is the feature weighting method which computes global weights for each feature. This research implemented gradient descent to obtain feature weights in case-based reasoning for hepatitis diagnosis and the similarity measurement using weighted Euclidean distance. There are four variations number of case base and test data that used in this research, those are: the first variation using 50% of data as case base and 50% as test data second variation using 60% of data as case base and 40% as test data, third variation using 70% of data as case base and 30% as test data and fourth variation using 80% of data as case base and 20% as test data. For each variation, using 4 kinds of scenario to mark the test data those are in first scenario the test data mark at the end of data, in second scenario the test data mark at the begin of data, in third scenario the test data mark half at the begin and half at the end of data and in the fourth scenario the test data mark in the middle of data. The result of this research showed that the accuracy of the system reaches 100% at scenario 1 in variation 4. Overall of all four variations and four kinds of scenario, the average accuracy of the system was 77.55%, average recall of system was 69.74%, and the average of precision was 78.39%. In addition, the level of accuracy was also influenced by the number of case base and the scenario of case selection for the case base. This is because more cases in the case base, the chances of a system to finding similar cases will be more.

  • Information and Communications Technology and Inventory Management amongst
           Breweries in Nigeria

    • Authors: Grace O. Akinola, Olusegun Timothy Odesola
      Pages: 39 - 45
Abstract: This study examined the effect of ICT on inventory management amongst breweries in Nigeria. Secondary data were sourced for this study. The population for the study comprises all brewery companies quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Purposive sampling technique was used in selecting the three leading brewery companies in Nigeria, namely the Nigerian Breweries Plc; Guinness Nigeria Plc; and International Breweries Plc that represent 75% of the breweries quoted in the Nigerian Stock Exchange factsbook. Secondary data on ICT/ software costs, inventories, sales turnover/revenue, and assets were sourced from years 2006 to 2015 Annual Reports and Statements of Accounts of the three selected breweries and the Nigeria Stock Exchange facts book. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics ( tables, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method). The results also showed that ICT usage had no significant positive relationship on inventory management (t = 0.021,  P > 0.01). The study concluded that ICT had no significant positive effect on inventory management in the Nigerian Brewery industry. It is recommended that brewery firms in Nigeria should deploy the right software for inventory management. The limitation of this research is what were used to measure the inventory management and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as contrary results could be obtained if these variables are measured using other yardsticks.  The improvement of the respondent required to see the other problem and another kind of business.
