  • La socializzazione emotiva in famiglia: quando il contesto presenta
           fattori di rischio psicosociale
    • Abstract: Ada Cigala, Arianna Mori

  • Family emotional socialization processes: Models of functioning and
psychosocial risk. An analysis of the literature.
    • Abstract: Ada Cigala, Arianna Mori, Antonella Reho
This paper proposes a literature review concerning the pro-cesses of emotional socialization in the family context. The characteristics of the emotional socialization processes are described starting from the analysis of the main results of the empirical studies and of some theoretical models. Particular attention is dedicated to the studies that have analysed families at high psychosocial risk (maltreatment and psychopathological symptoms). In the last part of the review a validated training for parents is presented that aimed to promoting emotional coaching socialization. The effi-cacy of this training has been evaluated in several studies both through a normative and clinical population.

  • Meta-emotional philosophy and emotional socialization’s styles in a
group of mothers living in mother-child communities
    • Abstract: Arianna Mori, Ada Cigala
The present research aims at analyzing, through the use of different instruments (QSE, ERPS, MEI-PV), the meta-emotional philosophy and the emotional socialization’s styles of a group of 43 Italian and non-Italian mothers aged between 20 and 45 years and living in mother-child communities with their children. Contrary to some research in literature, the results show that mothers are able to"tune" with their own emotions and those of their children, but experience difficulty with emotional expression, management and regulation. In particular, anger that is experienced by both themselves and their children, is the most difficult emotion to manage.

  • Parenthood in prison: Strategies to maintain the relationship with
children through the narrations of detained fathers
    • Abstract: Antonella Reho, Laura Fruggeri
The study aimed to highlight the strategies used to maintain the father identity and role during imprisonment. Particularly, it focused on different ways of dealing with the triadic dynamic among father, mother and children, which is the context of parenting. The data were collected through two qualitative methodologies: autobiographic writing and semi structured interview. The participants were 16 fathers of a prison in the North of Italy. Results indicate the central role of the partner/caregiver to preserve the relationship between imprisoned father and their children.

  • Affective dysregulation, attachment disorganization and Eating Disorders:
           Individual and familial risk factors
    • Abstract: Valentina Guiducci, Fabiola Bizzi, Antonio Ferro, Donatella Cavanna
Attachment working models have been interpreted such as affective regulation/dysregulation patterns, whose disruption is associated with eating disorders. The purpose of this research work was to investigate attachment models and alexithymia in a sample of young 50 outpatients with anorexia and bulimia, in a subsample of parents and in a control group. The following instruments were administrated: Adult Attachment Interview, Toronto Alexithymia Scale, Observer Alexithymia Scale, SCID-I. The results show an over-representation of dismissing and disorganized attachment in the clinical sample. ED subjects show a significantly higher level of alexithymia than the control group. Daughters and parents tend to attribute to each other alexithymic characteristics. Alexithymia could be considered as a symptom of a family that is not able to promote the development of affect mentalization.

  • Complex Trauma and outcomes in adolescence: A pilot study
    • Abstract: Antonio Maria Corato, Stefano De Carli, Chiara Fabris, Giulia Ongaro
The research refers to a pilot project set up at the SPTM of Vicenza aimed at monitoring the outcome of abused minors. The work is based on the theoretical model of Complex Trauma. The adolescents from the examined sample have suffered continuous maltreatment conditions and traumatic experiences; they did benefit from a protection and support program for at least one year. Participants have been assigned to two groups according to the criteria for the diagnosis of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Each group has been analyzed on variables related to risk factors, to protective factors, to institutional response factors (care system and judicial system). Data analysis shows participants’ personal resources to be the most incisive protective factors; continuous, long duration and family-involvement interventions have been proven the most effective ones.

  • Resilience in children victims of violence: An intervention project with
           adolescents in Lithuania.
    • Abstract: Francesca Giordano, Chiara Ferrari
Children violence is considered one of the most serious human rights problem in Lithuania, because of the lack of resources for the prevention of the phenomenon and the treatment of its effects. This study, related to an international Child Protection program run by BICE and OAK Foundation, is aimed at investigating the relationship between posttraumatic symptoms and resilience, and detecting which resources have an impact on the resilience processes in a group of 87 Lithuanian pre-adolescents and adolescents victims of violence (mean age = 13.03; range = 10-17 years). Study measures consist in the Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children (TSCC; Briere, 1996), measuring post-traumatic stress symptoms, and the Child and Youth Resilience Measure-28 items (CYRM-28; Ungar, 2013a), detecting the resilience dimensions. Results showed that each resilience dimension is associated with low levels of post-traumatic symptoms.
