  • Influence of Al2O3 Nanofiller on Morphological and Discharge Studies of
           PVP: CH3COOK Films

      Abstract: Nanocomposite polymer (NCP) films were prepared by doping potassium acetate with polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) by complete dispersion of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) with different wt% proportions by using solution-casting method. The acquired NCPs films were characterized systematically. The crystalline structure of the prepared NCPs films was confirmed by XRD. The little agglomeration and grain sizes involved in the films were analyzed by SEM. The energy bandgap values were observed to be at 3.16 eV for the wt% ratio of PVP: CH3COOK: Al2O3 (80:20:1%). The most extreme ionic conductivity was found to be 1.08´10-3 S/cm for the prepared PVP+CH3COOK: Al2O3 (80:20:1%) film. From the charge discharge characteristics, it was concluded that the film with wt% ratio of PVP+CH3COOK: Al2O3 (80:20:1%) possesses long durability when compared to other wt% ratios. Keywords: Nanocomposite polymer films, solution cast technique, XRD, SEM, optical absorption, AC ionic conductivity, cyclic voltammetryCite this ArticleM.   • Computation Modelling for Fine Particle Flow in Horizontal Slurry
           Pipelines

      Abstract: The coal based thermal power plant in India faces the problem of dumping of coal ash. The coal ash produced by thermal plant is transported to dumping site through slurry pipeline. The flow of fine particles at higher flow velocity in slurry pipeline is a matter of curiosity. The transportation of coal ash slurry at higher flow velocity leads to high pressure drop and requires large pumping power which ultimately affects the economy of transportation. In this study, Computational modeling using ANSYS FLUENT 17 is done for flow of Bi modal slurry of Silica sand and Fly Ash (90:10) in horizontal pipeline at flow velocity 1.78 m/s and 2.67 m/s for solid concentration 8.77% by volume. The modeling outcomes are validated with the experimental results. It is observed that the fine particles of Fly Ash in Coarser Silica sand uniformly distribute the particles and reduce the sedimentation effect.   • BER Analysis of Convolutional Encoded DWT-OFDM and coded FFT-OFDM under
           Different Simulation Conditions

      Abstract: In this study, we investigated the performance of Convolutional encoded Discrete Wavelet Transform based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DWT-OFDM) system over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. QAM and PSK modulation have been used for simulations. Performance of Convolutional encoded DWT-OFDM is compared with uncoded DWT-OFDM system and encoded conventional OFDM system. Bit error rate (BER) is used as measuring parameter. Simulations have been done using MATLAB software. It has been found in simulations that Convolutional encoded DWT-OFDM outperforms uncoded DWT-OFDM as well as coded conventional OFDM system. Performance of Convolutional encoded DWT-OFDM system has been studied using different modulation schemes namely 16-QAM, 32-QAM, 64-QAM, 16-PSK and 32-PSK. It is found that BER of encoded DWT-OFDM system improves as we decrease the constellation number and performance of coded DWT-OFDM is better with QAM modulation than with PSK modulation. Different wavelets namely Haar, Dabuchiees, biorthogonal, Symlet are used for simulating the system.
