  • Application of Heterocyclic Compounds in Everyday Life

    • Authors: Jyoti Kumari
      Pages: 1 - 7
Abstract: Heterocyclic compounds are of very much interest in our daily life. They have high significance in our living system. Heterocyclic compounds have a wide range of applications in agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, veterinary products etc. They are also used as starting material in the synthesis of organic compounds. These are also used in sanitizers, developers, anti-ordinates, corrosion inhibitors etc. Heterocyclic compounds are the cyclic compounds which contain one or more different atoms other than carbon in a ring structure. These compounds may be aromatic or anti-aromatic. Heterocyclic compounds widely found in nature, e.g. pyramiding and purine are the parts of DNA, vitamins and enzymes. Heterocyclic compounds are very important for human survival too. They are important information carrier. These are used in neurotransmitter and pyrimidines; nucleoside is a part of genetic material that transfers information from one generation to other. This review article focuses on the importance of heterocyclic compounds in our life in different ways.

  • Ferrocenium Ion Encapsulated Montmorillonite Clay as a Voltammetric Sensor
for Distinguishing Amino Acids Glycine and Alanine

    • Authors: Rimki Bhattacharjya
      Pages: 8 - 11
Abstract: Detection and determination of small bio-molecules and metal ions are of great importance for diagnosis of a number of diseases and understanding environmental pollution leading to extensive research on development of sensors. Among different sensors, electrochemical sensors are unique because of simplicity, low cost, easy maintenance and easy in vivo applications. Voltammetric sensor, one of the major constituents of electrochemical sensors, is essentially a surface modified working electrode (WE). The modifying agents may be surfactants, lipids, zeolites, clays etc. to name a few with or without a probe molecule. This paper embodies ferrocene encapsulated montmorillonite clay modified GC electrode as distinguishing voltammetric sensor between glycine and alanine. The redox currents of the modified electrode decrease to different extent on its interaction with glycine and alanine.Cite this Article.
